Yanmar Technical Training School (YTTS)
– Ind-Aust, (INDIA) Bharat
Ind- Aust is privileged of hosting Yanmar Technical Training Schools (YTTS) in Navi Mumbai, since January 25, 2013. YTTS offers a five-day exclusive training program (Monday through Friday) that focusses on both the how and the why of engine operation. It offers a special combination of theory and hands-on training. Participants get the confidence necessary to perform safe onboard operation and maintenance over the course of a week.
Besides YTTS (India) at Ind-Aust, Yanmar, Japan, has set up three more such training centres—in Japan, China, the Philippines
The facility uses a LIVE 4-stroke Yanmar 1MW Tier-II compliant Diesel Gen Set to train the Seagoing Engineers and Marine Professionals in order to fulfil its training objectives.
An unparalleled hands-on learning experience is provided by the training, which involves participants disassembling some of the engine’s units on their own to learn proper procedures and how each component works, including performing decarbonisation and other engine maintenance tasks like calibration. The training concludes with the engine being assembled and started.
The curriculum covers:
Complete engine Operation & Maintenance
Overhauling of turbocharger, air starting motor, governor, main and bottom-end bearings
Decarbonisation procedures
Calibration of Bore, piston and ovality check of Connecting rod
Troubleshooting and service issues
Bridging critical knowledge gaps
The training systematically fills in any knowledge gaps in specific engine components, ensuring participants leave with complete clarity and confidence. While training is designed for Yanmar engines, the skills learned, apply to any 4-stroke engine.
No. of candidates is strictly limited to seven participants to ensure individual attention. To date, around 1,300 candidates have successfully completed the program.
- Damage to main or DG engine, after major overhauls is the leading cause that affects charter obligations and operator reputation. A well trained ship and shore staff goes a long way in mitigating this situation.
- YTTS have an unparalleled track record in imparting training in diesel engine technology to the marine and power fraternities world wide.
- The theoretical and practical training is aligned around a 2012 built IMO- 2, live engine.
- (YTTS) is operated by IAM at its Navi Mumbai facility, to provide hands on training and to upgrade ship and shore staff competence on 4-stroke engines.
- Course faculty is trained at Yanmar Japan, Course Content, Certification & Quality Assurance is approved by Yanmar, Japan.
- This is the only such facility operated by an engine manufacturer in India within the marine domain.
Indian prominent companies sending their engineering professionals to YTTS at Ind- Aust include:
K-Line Ship Management, GESCO, Dockendale, MOL, Scorpio, Seven Islands Shipping, VR Maritime Services, Executive Ship Management, and many others and from across the globe; Golton Brazil, Arab Shipbuilding & Repair Yard (ASRY), Bahrain, Yanmar South America, Brazil, Woqod Marine Services, Qatar, Oman Shipping Management, Yade Barge Operator, Nigeria, Alwardy Marine Engg.
